About AFE: Bringing Evangelism Through Education and Enterprise
Academies for Excellence, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable, Christian organization
incorporated in the state of Michigan. AFE is a tax-exempt corporation
under the Internal Revenue Service code section 501(c)(3). Due
to the generosity of a group of AFE supporters, the operational
expenses of the corporation are fully underwritten. This allows
95% of your donation to go directly to mission work, with only
5% being allocated to donation processing costs.
In response to Christ’s command, the primary mission of AFE is to bring the message
of Christ’s gift of salvation to the people of Bangladesh. This
mission is being advanced on two fronts: education and enterprise.
Evangelism through Education
AFE has established a sponsor-supported scholarship program to provide for the
Christian education of disadvantaged Bangladeshi children. The school,
located in southeastern Bangladesh, has a student population of over
700, and a teaching staff of nearly 30.
This area of Bangladesh is a particularly impoverished region. The parents of
the students at the school are nearly all unemployed, or depend on
sporadic income as day laborers. Without the generous funding of
our donor community the children of these families would be forced
to attend a local, government-run Muslim school. Please help us bring
the message of Jesus to one of these children. Click here for scholarship
details.
Evangelism through Enterprise
The people of this area are industrious and willing to work. Unfortunately, opportunities
for legitimate, regular employment are nearly non-existent. Yet work
without purpose is meaningless and chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes
2:17).
AFE has recognized the opportunity to provide work
with purpose; to evangelize through enterprise. AFE is working to
develop employment programs for the parents of students attending
the school. Such programs currently in development include a quilt
making business and a concrete block production business. Perhaps
these parents will one day be able to support their own child’s education.
